Summer Students

Summer student opportunities are available at Gibraltar, from May to August. In order to be eligible for a position, applicants must be registered in a post-secondary education program.

Co-op Terms & Internships

Co-op and Internship opportunities are available at Gibraltar in four and eight month terms. The program gives students in areas of Mining, Metallurgical, Environmental, Electrical, and Mechanical an opportunity to work collaboratively with employees who are focused on delivering results.

In addition to the experience gained, we offer competitive salaries, paid relocation expenses and co-op fees, accommodations, and transportation to and from the mine site.

What you can expect in a Co-op position:


Working with the electrical and maintenance teams, you can expect to become involved in several assignments and projects. For example, you could be reviewing and upgrading electrical drawings, checking existing wiring and preparing drawings for trades people, reviewing and revising maintenance operating procedure, analyze data and prepare reports or drafting new operating procedures.


Working with the environmental team, you can expect to become involved in several assignments. You could find yourself assisting with water sample collection for analysis, vegetation samples, analyzing results, environmental monitoring programs, reclamation programs, design and implementation of research programs, and preparation of reports.


Working with the mine maintenance team, your duties may include participating in assessing hydraulic and mechanical issues related to mining equipment, assisting with mechanical projects including external sourcing of materials and preparing preliminary designs for a variety of applications, assessing the design and condition of mechanical equipment, and providing recommendations and follow through with ND testing and projects.


Working with the mining engineering team, you can expect to become involved in several assignments and projects. Assisting with drilling and blasting planning and design, assisting with short range planning, site surveying and, taking on a field project related to pit operations efficiency analysis.

New Grads

Our Engineers in Training (EIT) program is our commitment to professionally developing our engineering staff while they attain the qualifications for professional status and registration.

We hire EIT’s into numerous areas of our organization including Mining, Environmental, Metallurgical, Electrical, Mechanical, and Project Engineering.

The program offers new grads the opportunity to have hands —on technical training opportunities in an interesting and challenging environment. The training and development opportunities are extensive as EIT’s have a rotation program in which they work on various projects based on their engineering discipline. In addition, professional leadership, mentorship and educational support are provided giving EIT’s the opportunity for advancement into senior technical and management positions.
